"Developments. The constant changing of life. That’s my fascination and central theme in my work. I paint colorful imaginary narratives on natural, social and technological progress. The works are meant to show beauty and feeling. I hope to seduce the viewer to find a moment for beholding and contemplating."
“In terms of schooling and profession, I followed two tracks. I combined painting with working as an embryologist in Europe and the US.
Typically I start a painting with a sketch that is an offshoot from a current event. Or about a trend of everyday life. Sometimes it is more a dreamlike remembrance or daydream. The compositions are realistic figurations with a touch of surrealism. Every now and then the shaping is geometrical in coloured planes or a polyptych."
Andre Schoots is a Dutch artist based in Berg en Dal. Both his artistic and medical work have received recognition and international awards. His paintings are found in several private and institutional collections in Europe and the United States.
