"I have no intention to portray the models, just to find my own creations/images to express my deeper emotions. I feel lost without the ability to paint. My paintings give me insight knowledge and courage. Hopefully, my art will empower the viewer."

Dutch artist, Bernadette Sterk is self-taught in painting and employs the Princeton catalyst as a tool, bringing spectacular development to her technical skills. Sterk has no intention to portray the models, instead she interested in creating images that express her deeper emotions.
"I feel lost without the ability to paint. My paintings give me insight, knowledge and courage. Hopefully, my art will empower the viewer."
Her favorite quote is by Oscar Wilde: "Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not the sitter."
Sterk is inspired by all kinds of artworks, sometimes it could be just a stroke of color or texture or lyrics in songs and books. She currently lives in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
