Betty Collier

"I have pursued a serious study of sculpture, painting, and drawing from my late 30's onwards, after initially traveling to Europe, then South America, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, and Turkey. I am inspired by nature and different cultures encountered during my travels."

Award-winning artist and former Tertiary Art Teacher for over 45 years, Betty now concentrates on developing her sculpting, drawing and painting skills.

Since receiving a 5th and 3rd prize for Sculpture at the Florence Biennale in 2011 and 2015, Betty's art has been exhibited and published in Great Britain, Europe, South America, The USA, New Zealand and Australia, including a Solo Exhibition in New York, USA, in 2019.

Her art is at Federation University, Victoria, Australia and in private collections in Australia and overseas. Publications include, Florence Biennale, Edition 8, 2011 & Edition 10, 2015. World Wide Art Books, curated by Despina Tunberg, 2017, 2018,2019,2020. Art Tour International Magazines, 2018, 2019, 2020, Australian Art Edit, 2017, 2018, 2019, Art Universal the Great Encyclopedia of International Art curated by Salvatore Russo & Francesco Saverio Russo.

Betty's art evolves around nature and the human figure generally capturing peaceful, harmonious interpretations. In her 3D work there is an emphasis on curving tactile formations that are defined with undercutting and spatial awareness leading to greater value variability. Drawings take on a detailed and textural approach. Media includes watercolor, pen & ink, Carving stone & wood, oxy welding sheet steel and working wax for bronze castings.
