"I seek out subjects that I can create a narrative usually based on people going about their daily lives. I admire the work of Joseph Zbukvic who said “Indicate don’t state”; wise words. I tend to use structure as a framework to set figures within either from my sketchbook, en plein air or imagination."

Brian Smith, RI is a professional British artist specializing in watercolor. His paintings have been exhibited at open exhibitions internationally, gaining numerous awards from the RI, RWS, RWA and RSMA Art Societies. Smith recently became a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour based at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. He is a tutor for Watercolor and Acrylic at West Dean College along with tutoring small groups, independently at his studio as well as running successful workshops, online, via Zoom. Smith has done demonstrations and offered workshops at art societies in the UK and Europe.
