Maria Stella Polce

“There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, with their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun." - P. Picasso
"I transform a fractal (computer generated), into a horse or a nude or a landscape or an abstract."

Omaggio floreale - Digital art, Frattalismo 50 x 50 cm

Italian artist, Maria Stella Polce is a Professor at the M.P.I. (Ministry of Education). Originally from Abruzzo, she traveled throughout Italy before moving permanently to Francavilla al Mare, where she currently resides.

A versatile artist, from an early age, Maria Stella showed a passion for art by painting mainly landscapes and animals with a realistic approach. From the age of 20 onwards, she began to paint with oil colors on canvas (self-taught), had her first solo shows as well as participations in collective exhibitions, obtaining acclaim and prizes.

After a long period of research and artistic experimentation with various techniques and materials (including oil pastels, acrylic colors, watercolors, tempera, glass painting, mixed techniques, etc.), Polce discovered fractals. From 2000 onwards, her way of making art radically changed, to "Fractalism."

Polce draws fractals with her virtual brush, guided by the mouse, bringing out various themes including horses, female figures, landscapes and more, with a unique technique of painting the interior and producing an original, surprising effect.

Later, Polce also experimented with new types of modifications to fractals, occasionally moving away from the figurative. All her digital works are born from fractals and their transformations (including fragmentation, overlapping, etc.).

With this new genre of digital art, she has received notable awards and feature in various art catalogs, including, Mondadori and L'Elite 2019, Artisti 20, Atlante dell'Arte Contemporanea De Agostini 2021. Since 2015, Maria Stella Polce has continued to actively exhibit her work in Italy and abroad.

So, I make more art."

Giora Carmi

"I create art as an exploration of the question: Who am I? Each painting is complemented by a poem that aids me in understanding the contents of my temporary 'I' at that moment. What is becoming apparent is that all the momentary content does not define who I am. The authentic 'I' emerges in the happiness that is inherent."

Isabel Herrera

"The images I capture reveal my dreams, my fairy tale; that irrational language that feeds my spirit; an illusory encounter with myself, where I revisit my childhood, and where ordinary experiences become poetry. In stillness, I have found life to be a succession of vanishing, ephemeral moments."

Music - Polaroid photograph composition Ea 3.5 x 4.2 in.

Isabel Herrera is a contemporary instant photographer and artist who lives and works in Guatemala City. Herrera’s works portray serenity and nostalgia and that which is also ephemeral, vaporous and impermanent.

From a deep state of quiescence, Herrera has come to understand that life is a succession of vanishing and fragile moments. While trying to remain in the now, detached from all things banal, she has found her own way, searching to preserve fragments of time. Instant photography has enabled her to mindfully cherish these moments in complete stillness, in presence. It is how she finds contentment. The Polaroid SX70 and its experimental possibilities have allowed her to capture these fragile and evanescent instants always through shades and veils of haze. Herrera has found a muse and inspiration in nature, and her deep connection to it is reflected in her images. The Polaroid emulsion lifting technique she continuously works with is the way she can convey vulnerability, sensitivity and fragility of life. From the moment each emulsion is attached to organic cotton paper, it acquires its own unique form and personality. The wrinkles, folds and tears form an allegory of the human experience and existence; scars, grief, pain. These apparent imperfections simultaneously assure strength, hope and resilience; a sense of gratitude of being here and now.

Isabel Herrera has showcased works at Guatemala’s Sol del Rio Contemporary Art Gallery, Juannio’s annual Contemporary Latin American Art Auction, and internationally acclaimed Instant Photography Festivals in Germany, France, Italy and the UK. She was also invited to be a guest speaker and exposer at the First International Experimental Photography Festival in Barcelona Spain in January 2020, and a guest judge to Guatemala’s Universidad Francisco Marroquín Design Week 2020.

Veronica Shimanovskaya

“According to Joseph Beuys, art is a science of freedom. Not only that but it's a different reality that requires slowing down and looking. Just as a ray of light falls askance at some well-known object, and makes it look different.”

Alphabet Yes - Performance, Digital Photograph 180x78 cm

Dr. Veronica Shimanovskaya is a St. Petersburg-born, New York-based, multidisciplinary, award-winning artist with advanced degrees in art, architecture, and theatre.

Grounded in classical training, Shimanovskaya adeptly navigates the realms of painting, sculpture, sound, and video. While expanding her practice to include conceptual art, installation, and moving image, she remains steadfast in her commitment to painting. Veronica's exploration of mixed-media installation flourished during her pursuit of a Professional Doctorate degree at UEL, under the guidance of avant-garde filmmaker Professor John Smith and Turner Prize-winning sculptor Grenville Davey.

Drawing from metaphysics, Veronica endeavors to capture the pure subjectivity at the intersection of the personal and societal. Her artistic experiments involve the interplay of materials to construct the reality of her fictional worlds.

Since the 1990s, Shimanovskaya has exhibited internationally, gracing museums and galleries in Japan, Finland, the UK, France, Italy, Russia, and Mexico. Key highlights include her participation in the 57th, 58th, and 59th Venice Biennale, Thessaloniki Art Week 2018, London Art Week 2016, and World Art Dubai 2022. Notable accolades include the 2019 Mayor of Kobe Art Award and Certificates of Merit from the Luxembourg Art Award in 2021 and 2022. Her works find a place in both private and institutional collections.

Beyond her canvas pursuits, Veronica is a curator, designer, playback theatre actor, and a poet member of the British Haiku Society. She is the founder of EphemerEye, an online video art showcasing platform that provided live exhibiting opportunities for time-based media from 2017 to 2023.
