Cher Pruys

"I am a self-taught artist working in water-based mediums, mainly acrylic, but also at times gouache and watercolor. I am a hyperrealism painter fascinated by the world around me."

London Calling - Acrylic, 8 x 11 in. - $7,000

Cher Pruys, originally from Regina, has resided in various cities across Canada including Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa. She now calls Devlin, Ontario her home, living on the scenic banks of the Rainy River with her husband Mark, their four dogs, and two cats.

From the tender age of three, Cher was rarely seen without a drawing tool in hand. Over the years, she honed her skills in pencil, charcoal, and ink, until at the age of 35 she discovered her passion for painting. Initially working with oil paints, she eventually found her preferred mediums in acrylic, watercolor, and gouache.

A self-taught artist, Cher's commitment and natural talent have led her work to be juried into 523 international exhibits, alongside numerous non-juried shows. Remarkably, she has garnered 807 awards in these international juried exhibits.

Cher's art has not only been recognized in the exhibit circuit but has also adorned the covers of three books and 37 magazines. Notable cover features include The Best of Acrylic in Fall 2021, the May 2022 issue of Arabella Magazine, issues #20 and #21 of Hyperrealism Magazine featuring her works “Girls Girls Girls” and “The Young Cowboy,” and the March 2024 issue of Artists & Illustrators.
