Deborra Marshall Bohrer

""Art is the reflection of life that resides in all of us. It is the wooden spoon that stirs emotion. My paintings are created by adding layers of color until the depth of the paint reveals the life of the subject. An image emerges and there is that wonderful moment of recognition.... ah there you are!"

Elevated Tango - Acrylic on linen 48 x 60 x 2 in.

"My bachelors degree is in Interior Design. I chose that profession because it blended the worlds of creativity and business. I spent the first part of my professional life designing hospitals, banks, restaurants, and retail spaces.

I have been painting for 25 years. I have loved painting from the moment I first picked up a brush. I was fortunate to be mentored by two very well known artists in the Northwest, David deVillier and Ginna Lagergren. I studied for six years under their guidance and have enjoyed a successful career since.

After many exhibitions both in a group or solo from New York City, Miami, Palm Desert, and Sun Valley Idaho, I have found it is such a wonderful sense of accomplishment when people are engaged with my work. I was honored to be chosen for a solo exhibition in conjunction with the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition "Waterways" in Sun Valley, Idaho. It gave me an opportunity to not only discuss my work but the subject of the West and its beauty, its environs, and environmental complications."
