"At the beginning of my career, I used to paint sociopolitical subjects and when I studied Chinese painting (35 years ago) I was introduced to the following concept: "Paint what you want to live with." Since then, I produce paintings I want to live with, following this ancient concept of beauty."
Born in Pijiño, Colombia in 1951, Edgar Francisko earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia, in Bogota. He studied color etching with Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris, Lithography at the Arts and Crafts School in Barcelona, Traditional Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China and Ceramics at the Fringe Club in Hong Kong. He has worked as a Drawing teacher at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota and Art Tutor at the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the French International School in Hong Kong and Beijing.
Second prize in Painting at the First Judged Regional Art Competition, House of Culture, Santa Martha, Colombia.
Scholarship to pursue Post-graduate studies in Traditional Chinese Painting, Beijing, China.

Edgar Francisko's paintings are in museums and art collections around the world and he continues to actively exhibit in solo and group shows internationally.
