"The beauty of the natural world is my inspiration. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii where spectacular beauty surrounds me. I use oil in the alla prima method using a style described as "painterly realism".
"I dream my painting and I paint my dream." - Vincent Van Gogh
Ginger Anne Sandell was raised on the mainland. In her youth, she spent hours exploring nature, roaming the forests of Maryland and the rolling hills and tidal pools of Southern California. In 1974, she traveled to Hawaii on vacation. She fell in love with the ocean and the beauty of the islands, so she sold all her possessions and moved to the Big Island. Her love of nature inspired her to begin painting in 1979.
As a single mother of four sons, Ginger postponed her art career to pursue an education in business. She earned a Bachelor’s in Business, a Master's in Business Administration, obtained her Certified Public Accountant credential, and then started her own CPA firm in 2004. With the same determination she used to raise her boys, Ginger refocused her skills toward her true passion for painting, which lead her to enroll in the Academy of Art University. She graduated with a Masters of Fine Art in 2019.
Ginger loves pristine places in the natural world. She hopes to inspire her viewers to cherish the exquisite splendor of the earth and strives to show this beauty with her art.
