"As a retired architect and retail design executive, I draw unconventional subjects in a representative style. My illustrations are 'snapshots' from unfinished or untold stories that peek into a fantasy world where anything is possible."
What themes does your work involve?
Themes for my work revolve around fantasy and surreal surroundings. Animals are typically depicted in unusual situations.Describe your creative process.
Many drawings involved the creation of small models and incorporation of model photographs that I've taken into the final pencil drawing. What are your goals and plans as an artist in 2023?
I plan to continue working in 2023 and I'll produce one or two drawings during the entire year. A single drawing can take between 50 and 250 hours of drawing time to produce. How do recent advancements in technology affect your art practice? How may recent developments in Artificial Intelligence (image generator software) affect the definition of fine art?
Technology and Artificial Intelligence have had very little influence on my drawings. My drawings are more about developing an 'idea' rather than producing an end product. Technological shortcuts don't interest me.What is the role of the artist today?
The role of the artist today is to produce work that pleases himself/herself and lives up to their own definition of what art really is.
