Adèle - Acrylic paint and molotow acrylic markers on pvc canvas 100 x 150 cm, €1850

"Often I feel like I'm working on a puzzle while working on a painting, the pieces fall into place one by one. All these separate elements will provide a coherent end result. My work is a fusion of cultures, portraits, botanical elements, animals, decorative elements, and vibrant color combinations. I work with acrylic paint, acrylic markers, charcoal and oil pastel, usually on canvas or linen."

What themes does your work involve?
Influences of the early 1900's, such as movie and stage actresses.
Describe your creative process.
Most of the time i get my ideas when i wake up in the morning. Or on the daily morning walks with my dog in the forest. When home, i get my canvas and start with the background. most of the time I start with making a portrait. Next step is sorting out the elements (photo of flower or bird) i want to use in the painting. By using a projector i can see how elements fit in the painting. In the paintingprocess i decide which color comes in. I know when it's finished when everything is to my satisfaction.
What influences your work? What inspires you? Why do you make art?
There are some favorite painters such as Gustav Klimt,Alphonse Mucha,Vincent van Gogh who'm i admire. And also some artist of the aboriginal arts like Gracie Ward Napaltjarri. Gracie was the catalyzer for me wanting to make paintings like she did. After a couple of years making dotpaintings i wanted to make my own style and was introduced by artworks of the other artists named above. Now i'm still working on my own style, Creating is like breathing, I can't stop.
What are your goals and plans as an artist in 2023?

I will work hard to find out a way to get more exposure. Which is a hard thing to do when you are a shy person.

What is good art? What makes a piece of art great?
When you look at a work of art and you get a strong feeling that it was made for you. Or you find something so interesting that you want to learn more about this artist, then it is good art.
