"I'm guiding you to the place where I live, using oil paint and medium as watercolor wash or thick sculptural texture as perspective with white to symbolize the purity of the Mountain Ash Forest. Things that could be interpreted as traditional are removed blurring the line between realism and imagination.”
Born in eclectic Melbourne when starting art and asked to select her first subject in oils from a heap of magazine pages, Jeanette selected a portrait of Van Gogh the complexity of his shirt collar although white was intriguing with many shades of color, she has loved mixing color ever since - evolving from traditional art and portraits to contemporary expressionism. As a young adult, Jeanette's business was a Shell Service Station with hundreds of customers, she exhibited her art there as well as other hospitality and services industries annually holding art shows together with vintage car shows.
After moving to the Dandenong Ranges to live on 100 acres in a National Park, she joined with other artists painting plein air, portraiture, still-life and contemporary expressionism supporting the Rotary Club of Emerald & District and managing the Gembrook Market.
Jeanette changed direction in 2002 to build 'Gembrook Cottages' two luxury accommodation cottages with a boutique shop, perfect for her artwork. Jeanette met an abstract art teacher at a party who invited her to join her personal group. The group of five established Yarra Valley artists would take their artwork to have it critiqued by her, Wanting to improve Jeanette had private tuition with her for over a year in the studio and outdoors painting Williamstown beach and Gembrook country.
2012 - Jeanette entered a large community art show and was awarded Gold Prize Contemporary, there she met like-minded artists wanting to lift the profile of Contemporary Art in the area, they formed SECAN South Eastern Contemporary Art Network in 2013 where she became an inaugural committee member.
