Having studied French, Italian and German as a singer sparked Jill's interest in other cultures. A love of fine art, painting, sculpture, music, architecture and poetry, as well as landscapes and cultural influences, continue to be an inspiration for her paintings.
Music, rhythmic movement and intuitive improvisation have always been guiding elements behind Dowell's works. Having an affinity for texture and a bold, yet sophisticated color palette allows her to create paintings that are palpable and accessible. Following her intuitive process, Dowell hopes to bring the viewer along on a journey of shared discovery through her abstract works and impressionistic influences.
