Kaveh Michael Amiri, born in Tehran, Iran, in 1958, is a Washington-DC-based artist whose work captures the intersections of imagination, exploration, and storytelling. A self-taught artist with a background in science, including scientific photography, Amiri’s artistic journey began in childhood, when he discovered his talent for drawing and painting. His early works, including illustrating movie posters for classmates and neighbors, marked the beginning of his passion for creative expression.
Amiri’s paintings reflect his fascination with mystery and his commitment to addressing critical social, political, and cultural issues. His process involves incorporating new ideas, elements, and materials, experimenting to create dynamic and thought-provoking pieces. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas and paper, Amiri also explores digital art and photography to expand his artistic horizons.
His works often invite viewers to see the world through different lenses, encouraging them to reflect on their own biases and perspectives. Amiri has exhibited locally and internationally, with an active exhibition in Vienna, Virginia, and two upcoming shows scheduled for March and April 2024. His art offers a visual narrative that connects with audiences, fostering thought and dialogue about the world around us.
