Japanese Buddhist and Shinto artist, Makiko Tamori is a self-taught painter. She was influenced by her older sister, a photographer, to become interested in and involved with contemporary art. Makiko pours paint over the paintings of Western-style painter Akiko Nakajima. She has learned from a dye-craft artist, Mr. Manabu Osawa. Makiko is currently producing acrylic paintings, mixed media, collages, and installations in New York, Paris, Germany, Shanghai, and Japan. She is active internationally.
