Romanian-born, American citizen Maria Lipan has dedicated her career to art and education. After receiving an MFA in Design from the Art University of Timisoara (1999), Maria taught fine art in Romanian high schools for over 5 years. In 2006 she moved to the USA where she continued her education in Early Childhood working in the field for over 8 years, while simultaneously exhibiting her own artwork.
Since 1999, Lipan's work has been exhibited and sold in Eastern Europe and the USA through galleries including Zhou B. Art , River Art Center Chicago, Iron Studio, as well as in museums like Koehnline Museum of Art, Des Plaines IL and Merchandise Mart downtown Chicago.One of her paintings is in the possession of Robert Morris University Chicago, IL.
In 2014 Lipan became mother of twin girls, born prematurely. She and her twins spend the first two months in NICU. This life experience inspired a series of 7 paintings and a poem called “In Harmony ." Lipan continued to advocate for children. In 2015 she opened a state licensed family daycare in Oak Creek, Wisconsin to support the growth and development for her children and the children in her community. In 2016 she presented an educational poster promoting quality through experience and philosophy “Lead my way to play” at NAEYC annual conference in Los Angeles. Lipan’s projects in both art and education reflects awareness in quality and equality.
