"I think of my work as celebrating the spirit of the ‘inner child’ through an improvisational energy, retained in strokes, lines, and colours. I strive to create a visual immediacy that keeps the viewer’s eye in perpetual motion."

"Informally trained, I paint and draw with mixed media including oils, acrylics, oil pastels and charcoal, in figurative, abstract and neo-expressionist styles, with influences that include DeKooning, Mitchel, Kline, Wool, Pollock, Twombly, Clemente, Basquiat, Graham, Motherwell, Frankenthaler, and Miro. I've exhibited in art shows and enjoyed representation by art galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, West Virginia, Waterford, Sligo and Dublin with works currently in residence at Green Gallery, Dublin, Ireland. I've sold, auctioned and gifted works for private collectors and charitable organizations in the U.S., Europe and Australia. I've been privileged to be featured in many art book publications, magazines, cover art, online galleries and social media.”
Paul Hartel was born in 1969 in the USA and today lives in Sligo, Ireland.
