"As an International artist and as a Trans-disciplinary Professor in Art who is constantly researching new ways to use manual and electronic processes for constant experimentations approaches to art. After my years of research, I have combined disciplines and approaches using diverse techniques."
Pierre Pepin (Ph.D.) has led a teaching career and International training for educators in visual and media arts in Canada, United States, and the Middle East. He has given workshops to teachers in art at international conferences in the United States, Europe, in the Middle East and the Far East.
The artist sculpts, by hand through time, space, and motion, the full-color spectrum and produces abstract and composites of natural color images using transparent shapes and forms to build 3D images on frames of 2D images. Through his research, Pepin casts the beauty of light through the lens of his camera. By study and playing with all the components, his exploration with the reflection and refraction of light through static sculpture enables him to animate them in motion. He seizes a certain period of time and space (the moment) of the images and its reflection is his inspiration of the moment. Creating the magic of colors in motion he experiences a very personal way of painting with light.
For many years using also science, art and technology to express his art forms the artist explores diverse techniques: drawing, watercolor, acrylic, collage, hologram, photography, VR and now multi-media. His latest scientific approaches to art and technology now have merged. With this method, he experiences a very personal way of painting and sculpture through light.
The Continuing Process of painting and sculpting with light in motion is a fascinating experience that explores all the multimedia development processes and much more. (Video, animation, graphics design, sculpture, environment, performance, and sound processing, etc.). By discovering the surprising effects of the decomposition of light, this phenomenal artistic research of color and light creates a truly moving painting to reproduce all the colors of the solar spectrum.
"As an International artist and as a Trans-disciplinary Professor in Art who is constantly researching new ways to use manual and electronic processes for constant experimentations approaches to art. After my years of research, I have combined disciplines and approaches using diverse techniques. These latest scientific approaches through art and technology merge to sculpt and paint with light. Color is multiplied spontaneously and seized the best moment with photography and video and with other technical media: design, collage, movement, and media performance. Recent artistic research has brought me to represent transparency in the depth of field, with various textures of light. I explore a three- dimensional color spectrum with fascination using a light source.
“Creating the magic of colors in motion is experiencing a very personal way of 'Painting With Light’.
I engage the public to interact directly with the medium through the processes at the Galleries and Museums, High Schools, Colleges, and Universities, national and international workshops. I do this by exploring many approaches, techniques, and versatility of creativity through fine art, computer graphics, photography, virtual reality, sculpture, painting, design, motion, media, performance, and technology."
Pepin has exhibited internationally in Canada, the USA and across Europe in galleries, institutions, events and top art fairs. With multiple solo shows since 1996, Pepin holds a Bachelor’s in Art and Master’s in Education from Laval University, Quebec as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy “Etudes et Pratiques des Arts” from University of Québec, Montreal, Canada. He has had extensive training at the Art Center College of Design Los Angeles, California; and California School of Graphic Design and Product Design, Pasadena, California.
