“Automatic writing is the privileged instrument of my quest for a phantasmagorical pictorial dramaturgy. The dreamlike theatricality of my paintings is the bearer of fables whose random narrative threads can be reconstructed at will by the playful imagination of visitors.”
“Born in France, I have been a professional artist since the 1980s. Puppeteer and director, my companionship with the visual arts continued throughout my theatrical career as a sculptor of my puppets and painter of my sets; privileged moments in the process of creating my shows. As a multidisciplinary artist, the transition from 3D puppetry to 2D canvas has emerged as a logical extension of my plastic puppet research.
Following my emigration to Quebec in 1996 and obtaining a Ph.D. doctorate, I oriented my practice towards teaching and research as part of the theater program at Laval University. My Dreamlike Dramaturgies were born from numerous graphic traces scattered in notebooks dedicated to professional meetings over more than 15 years of academic activity. Random emanations from my subconscious giving rise to a kind of raw, primitive art, composed of multifaceted drawings that I use today in my paintings.
I presented my dreamlike Dramaturgies at Palazzo Mora in Venice as part of the 'Personal structures - Identities (ECC)' exhibition throughout the Biennale Arte 2019 di Venezia. I also participated in the exhibition and auction Illumina le Notti Più Buie in December 2019 in Mestre, Italy, and in the group exhibition organized on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Galerie L'Articho in September 2019 in Quebec. I will present my dreamlike Dramaturgies soon in Quebec City in a solo exhibition at Galerie L'Articho initially scheduled for April 18, 2020, but postponed due to COVID-19 in November - December 2020. I am an associate member of the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuals of Quebec (RAAV).”
