Artists On Review

Contemplating the Impossible: Jussi Pirttioja

Double Portrait - Oil on canvas 90 x 65 cm

"I paint what I would like to see and what does not yet exist. I pick random fragments from the flood of images I face every day and try to tie them together with the language of paint. Sometimes the results intrigue me, hopefully, others too. Meanings should not be imposed too heavily on my work."

One Thousand Words: Janice Alamanou

Human Nature - Spring

Janice’s style is mixed as she has evolved over many years and her work adapts as she changes. The people she portrays are all beautifully individual and the landscapes she amalgamates into the bodies are a natural progression of her work, depicting more than what can be seen. Issues Janice highlights are within the role of women, their feelings and lives, the environment, people and the affect of people.

Reconstructed Reality: Jussi Pirttioja

Double Portrait - Oil on canvas 90 x 65 cm

"I paint what I would like to see and what does not yet exist. I pick random fragments from the flood of images I face every day and try to tie them together with the language of paint. Sometimes the results intrigue me, hopefully, others too. Meanings should not be imposed too heavily on my work."

Between Metaphors: Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna

Own Space, 2016 - Pastel 66 x 83 cm

"I search for the tangible surface between the inner and the observable world by introspection during the painting process. I get ignited when something gets a metaphorical meaning. I bridge the soul and reason within the concept of time. Through imagery, I consider the complexities of these dualities."

Dream and Memory: Anita Kovacevic

Land of Snow - Photograph 102 x 68.5 cm

“My whole concept and approach to art is simple just as my philosophy of mind is. I'm inspired by the simplest and quieter side of life and enjoy peaceful natural escapes. My images reflect my inner vision and my floating between memories and dreams."

Dreamlike Realism: Grace Huang

Follow Me - Oil on canvas 99 x 119 cm Price upon request

“My work concept has captured the subject matters for the art and reality, to explore the subtleties of meaning in everyday life. I aim to share my ideas with the viewers who participate and inspire their imagination. I think, to a certain extent; we explore the art world from different perspectives.”

Abstract Expressionism: Mary E. Morgan

Other Side Of The Mountain - Acrylic and Oil on canvas 40 x 30 in. - $2,600

"I use acrylic and oil, and often I combine these materials. Because I am inspired by the colors of nature, my work is colorful. I would like to quote Helen Frankenthaler who said “it is a combined conscious and subconscious effort “ and I agree that often it can be spontaneous."

Bodypaintography: Cynthia Fleischmann

Bodypaintography: Oriental Rug MA, 2017 Edition of 4 15 x 23 in. $1,400

“My 'bodypaintography' has been an exploration of connecting humans visually into their environments, similar to how animals relate to their spaces using matching spots, stripes or colors. All models are naked to celebrate the body, and red hands are my signature, representing aspects of humanity.”

Painting Today: Arthur Jacob

The Homestead - Photograph 40 x 30 in.

"My canvas begins as a photograph and the mouse as my brush. From that point on, my creative work focuses on exploring shapes, colors, and movement that are in the photograph. I don’t record the steps taken to achieve this focus, so each work is unique and new. This allows me to take a new journey of discovery with each piece I create."

The Monumental vs The Organic: Lobykin

Talking Heads - Bronze 24 x 12 x 12 in. - $12,000

"A compelling aspect of art is its potential to transport us from the ordinary to the ecstatic, a heightened state of clarity and bliss." - Lew Carson

In Limbo: Allisdhair McNaull

In Limbo - Limited Edition Photograph of 25, HD metal print 60 x 40 cm, £170

"I become completely absorbed in the moment of creation blending color, light and, movement, capturing a unique, unrepeatable moment, a meditation captured as a photograph."

Light On Canvas: Ronda Richley

After Van Gogh: Obscured by Trees - Acrylic with Oil Pastels 30 x40 in. $3850

American Artist, Ronda Richley lives in Orlando. She holds a Master of Arts Concentration in Studio Arts, Painting from California State University, Northridge, California as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from College of Design Architecture, and Art, University of Cincinnati, Ohio

Reclaiming The Sacred Source: Lynn Creighton

Reclaiming the Sacred Source: Gaia - Bronze 13 x 10 x 8 in.

“I create the female form from a sacred source of inspiration and commitment. This work has evolved from my deep inner conviction that female energy, fully aware of itself, will contribute essential wisdom to critical issues facing the planet.”

Fauvism: Maria Teresa Guala

Bigotta - Acrylic on canvas 33 x 50 cm

Maria studied at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts of Turin in the ‘60s under Prof. Scroppo. At the same time, she studied languages and she has worked as a translator. Due to work and family, she interrupted her art practice for a long time. Resuming in 2000 with a solo exhibition at Micrò Gallery, Turin and at the Promotrice of Fine Arts in Turin, 2001. She participated in several exhibitions in Europe and Russia, US and received different awards.

New Realism: Jon Bøe Paulsen

The Poison Game - Oil on canvas 100 x 140 cm

"I consider myself an artist belonging to the group of New Realists where the human being is looked upon in a new light and painted strongly figuratively. The meaning of Clair Obscure, in Italian chiaroscuro, is light in the darkness. Less light, less colour."

Painting with Thread: JinHee Kim

Untitled Thread, 2017 - Acrylic on canvas 20 x 20 in. $1300

"I present canvases and books adorned with yarn and thread. The yarn creates complex organic forms on the canvas. Evolving from an art therapy technique, I am drawn to the connections one can make with one another from a simple cluster of lines, a result of intention and accident."

Dialogues: Sylvia Galos

Untitled, 2017 - Mixed media 100 x 120 cm

"I begin with an idea, and then it becomes something else." - Pablo Picasso

"Spontaneity switches with the painstaking search after the perfect stroke and color. From mind to guts and back. The process of painting - it is a dialogue between myself and the painting. Sometimes I receive direct answers to my questions while painting, sometimes the painting invites me to find answers myself."

Art as Survival: David A. Feingold

Whirlwind - Digital media Print 30 x 29 in.

"My artwork consists of imagery that connects with thoughts and feelings born out of my own lived experience with bipolar disorder. Distinct mood states and fluctuations occur to some degree within all people. This enables my art to reach a varied audience, with different aesthetic preferences."

Digital Art: Karin Monschauer

Onde, 2015 - Digital media - Print on canvas 80 x 80 cm

"Since 2010, I have been creating paintings with art and design computer programs. The knowledge of these software packages has allowed the creation of canvases with colours and shapes that were not possible with the half cross-stitch technique. The ability to use digital art tools allows me to develop my art more and more."

The Process Is the Message: Bea Last

Descent of Man, 2017 - Graphite, emulsion on recycled news papers from 2017 - 1,9 x 22 m Variable dimensions on location

"My practice is process-led, the creative process to me is very much a journey, reflected in life. The monochromatic aspect of my work was process-led. Colour had become redundant and a distraction. I wanted to focus on the marks I was making."
