"I'm shaping my way to be an artist. I was created, and I love to create. That's who I am. I am an artist."
“In this journey we are in, we never know where we will end up in this life. We might have a plan of what it will be or where we are going, but the reality is we don't know what tomorrow will bring. A kid from the countryside of Haiti had a dream to become a well-known artist. The 5th child out of seven children born to a single mother. It wasn't easy initially; we could barely eat or have clothes to put on, but we managed to make it work.
Our fortune changed when my mom migrated to the US and eventually managed to get all of us here with the help of one of my older brothers.
I'm Samson Tonton, son of an immigrant and once a kid with a dream. I'm no longer a kid, but I still have a dream, but now that dream includes my two beautiful daughters. I pursued that dream with all my might every day. Back when I was in college, I would drive two hours away to go to school in the pursuit to one day make that little kid's dream a reality.
Here I am now, once again pursuing that dream of becoming an artist, but no longer do I value becoming well-known, as much as I love the opportunity to do what I love and make a living doing so.
In this journey we are in, we never know where we will end up in this life, but for me, I'm shaping my way to be an artist! I was created, and I love to create. That's who I am. I am an artist in the pursuit of a dream.”
Samson Tonton was born in Haiti in 1981 and is now based in Norwich. Samson holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Media Art, Animation from the New England Institute of Art in Boston, MA.
