Simon Boyd

“For me, painting is like exploring some ancient pre-Columbian ruins; it seeks to revisit that which has been long forgotten but nevertheless remains shrouded in mystery.””

Purlieu - Oil on canvas 75 x 130 x 5 cm

Simon Boyd was born in 1978 in London. He is currently painting in Argentina and has exhibited widely; both in Buenos Aires and London. Simon is motivated by childhood memories merged with a sense of mysticism inspired by his natural surroundings of South America. Simon seeks to transmit a dream-like nostalgia in his paintings, evoking a sense of the primordial and timeless. His paintings portray arcane tales of conflict, struggles between order and chaos; while pushing the aesthetic extremes of discipline and irreverence. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and BTEC Art and Design from Middlesex University.
