Belgian artist, Christel Van Hemelrijck uses oil on canvas to present her lyric expressionist visions. A self-taught artist she is based in Mechelen, Belgium. The island of Crete in Greece remains her major source of inspiration where she lived during the 90s and still spends a lot of time there. She is also inspired by her travel experiences. Van Hemelrijck's emotions are expressed through a vocabulary of bold colors, with laconic, solid compositions and delicate textures mainly on large canvases.

Soon after starting out in 2017, she has several exhibitions in Belgium. Lately, Christel had the opportunity to present her work in Lisbon, Amsterdam, London and Venice.
