"For years I have been interested in historical research and folklore; this led me to research symbols and ancient alphabets. which I compose on canvas or on paper in many different ways. I admire several artists, such as Cy Twombly and Paul Klee."

Italian artist, Laura Zilocchi was born in  Guastalla  and lives in Brescello, a small town in the province of Reggio Emilia famous for the films of Don Camillo and Peppone. From a young age, Laura showed interest and a love for art in all its forms. She has experimented over the years with a variety of media including collage, frottage, watercolor, oil and soft pastels.

"After painting the great river Po with its poplar groves for years, I started looking for ancient symbols that we find today used on both computers and cell phones. In recent years I have participated in important exhibitions in museums also abroad, palaces and institutions and my works are in important collections."
