“I’m inspired by the materials I work with (usually found objects); the touch, feel and intensity of them. The pleasure of working with a beautiful piece of wood, the visual impact of applied color, and the textures of fabrics; how I can imagine the ways to use them is intensely moving.”

“Art using found objects has attracted me since 1965, when I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and saw large sculptures by local artists made from detritus on the Bay shore. They were fantastic, noisy, beautiful works with great humor and form - I never have forgotten them. As an art student at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Mass. I began studying painting, but later, when I was attending a life drawing group, a sculptor encouraged me to carve directly in wood. This began what has become a deep love for sculpture and, later found object assemblage.

In 1992, when I finally had a permanent studio in the Hudson Valley of New York State, I began combining found objects with the cherry wood carvings I had been doing and continue to do so; adding found rag paper, wire, and paint to the mix.

I have also continued to paint, draw, and create tapestries and, recently I have completed an 18 piece portfolio of collages. I have an extensive exhibition history, including The Proskauer prize from the National Sculpture Society, exhibitions at Brookgreen Gardens, S. Carolina, Biennale Dell Arte Contemporanea, Florence, Italy, where I have been invited again in 2019, as well as many solo, group and invitational exhibitions in the USA. I will also be a featured artist with Artrepreneur, a website assisting artists to further their careers, in a film on PBS worldwide in April 2019.”

Lori Pitten Jenkins

Lori Pitten Jenkins lives in Melbourne, Florida, USA and is an avid runner, running in over 100 races including 2 marathons and over 20 half marathons. She performed with the Florida State University Flying High Circus from 1979 to 1983 with several acts including the Flying Trapeze.

Lori earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art (1983) from Florida State University. In 2005 she revisited art by taking a watercolor class at a local museum and began entering shows in 2008. She is a member of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, FL and participates in about 15 outdoor shows within the state of Florida per year, including prestigious venues like Gasparilla, Winter Park, and Mainsail. With an increasing number of collectors her unique and masterful watercolors never fail to impress. Lori continues to paint every day.

Dennis Casey Photography

"I have been an outdoor adventurer for almost half a century, and I have always had a passion for being alone in nature. My goal as a photographer is to produce images that allow other people to actually feel these experiences and to give them the feeling of what it is like to be alone in nature."

Dennis Casey captures the magic of nature’s solitude. Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, his photography focuses on the splendor of mountains, deserts and oceans of the American West and Southwest. His distinctive style conveys the feeling of what it is like to be alone in nature.

A native of San Diego, CA, Dennis retired as an educator in 2013 and moved to Texas to become a landscape photographer. He continues to teach business at Weatherford College, and when he isn’t teaching, he spends his time searching for remote places of beauty from Canada down to South America.

Dennis has spent his entire life traveling the world as a surfer, climber and backpacker immersing himself in the beauty of both land and sea. These experiences come to life in his images. As for the theme of his photography, the artist states, “My goal is to produce images that allow other people to actually feel my outdoor experiences, and to give them the feeling of being alone in nature.”

Dennis’ artwork has been shown in exhibitions and art shows around the country, such as Art Expo New York, Art Santa Fe, Art San Diego, Amsterdam Gallery and Las Lagunas Gallery.

Captured in natural lighting, Dennis’ photographs provide a distinctive and fresh perspective on well-known American landscapes. His images demonstrate an alert eye capable of framing unique compositions which successfully communicate to the viewer that revered feeling of being alone in and with nature.

Jose Luis Quinones

Contemporary artist's Jose Luis Quinones' passion for perfection and artistic ability combine for an exciting blend of dazzling colors and the illusion of a three-dimensional surface. His oversized paintings are shaped on the outer edge to conform to the object which enhances the idea of realism.

"I was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico and moved with my family to Ohio as a young child. My passion for realism lead me to pursue my career in fine art. I completed my Art Education at Cooper School of Art and the Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, Ohio.

My oil paintings were originally based on a series of objects from my father’s small grocery store. I was fascinated with painting objects, and soon the backgrounds became unimportant to me, so I let the gallery walls serve that purpose. I shaped the canvas to fit the contour of the object involved.

Like Rosenquist, I had painted mural size billboards for an outdoor media company for many years. Constantly painting on such a large scale had influenced the size of my artwork. I found that size was a significant factor on the impact of the viewer. I was also captivated by the abstract quality of something so large when observed up close. My paintings are done in oils and hand brushed to look like it is created with an airbrush technique.

Recently, I am in the process of investigating paintings shaped in a circular format. I still strive for a three-dimensional feeling even though the painting is a flat surface.  My fascination with realism and the shaped canvas will enable me to envision many new and intriguing paintings. It will be interesting to see how far I can manipulate the shaped facade to create a two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional illusion of genuine excitement!"

Moving Elephant by Mark is a Zurich-based photographer and a represented artist of Agora Art Gallery, New York City. For Mark, the art of photography is synonymous with life, embodying a never-ending journey which is manifested in his creativity and artistic vision.

Moving Elephant by Mark is a Zurich based photographer and represented artist of Agora Art Gallery, New York City.

For him, the art of photography is synonymous with life, embodying a never-ending journey which is manifested in his creativity and artistic vision. Capturing his scenes with only naturally available light as well as directly shot monochrome, his images hold power in their underlying preservation of photography in its most natural and raw form.

Mark’s practice is comprised of two parallel lines of work. The first of these lines explores symmetry and perspective in mostly urban architecture. These works capture the beauty of the order present in often overlooked architecture, which is then further emphasized by the monochromatism of the images, which renders all the lines of the symmetry all that much more visible. The second line in Mark’s work deals with the art of storytelling through images as it relates to the female body. In these works, Mark deftly wields extremely dramatic lights and shadows to create gorgeously emotive scenes that can easily stir up memories or connections within a viewer. Further, there is compositional overlap between these lines, both where elements of symmetry and repetition come into the figurative works, as well as where the symmetrical architecture begins to evoke figurative forms in its contours.

His work was recently presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) exhibition in Beijing, China.

Catherine Pickop

"The process of my art making is a way to express my personal response to the world around me with a distinct technique and style. It is a profound self-communication and a visual representation of my mind."

Reconcile #1 - Mineral pigment and coffee residue rubbed on scored watercolor paper 113 x 165 cm

Repetition, stillness, and rhythm are essential elements in Catherine Pickop’s work. She is particularly interested in how art can help to express internal emotions and rationalize inner thoughts. She began using coffee residue as a material in her art-making, exploring feelings consciously and subconsciously as a method of self-discovery. Her works become a visual reflection of her mind, the process of her art-making describes how she sees the world, reconstructed on paper in minimal abstract form.

After exploring different media through her early stage, she is now more focused on drawings with natural mineral pigment and coffee residue. She created her own method and gesture of rubbing natural mineral pigment on paper which is a direct and intimate way of painting. Each painting evolves from a combination of carefully planned structure and the immediate sensation of application and removal of pigment. The carefully calibrated neutral tones create complex spatial compositions which invite the audience to appreciate movement and subtle variations of color.

Anne Jeffery

"I photograph the diminutive landscapes of wild and garden flowers, leaves and grasses, and the birds, bugs, and butterflies that dwell within. My montages merge these photographs with clouds, streams, waterfalls, bubbles, and splashes of color. I intertwine multiple layers into a final composition."

"Growing up in California, under the spell of such luminaries of photography as Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, and Edward Weston, I was entranced with the photographic process.  After receiving a sensible college degree, I went on to study photography at Brooks Institute of Photography. I left Brooks to begin a career with the Federal Government documenting wildfires for the Bureau of Land Management. During my Federal career, I worked as a photographer, a public relations specialist and National Deputy Director for BLM’s Office of Fire and Aviation. Over the years my work has evolved from documentary photographs into creating fine art multi-layered digital photomontages. 

My photomontages may be composed of up to 70 different layers.  A layer may be an original digital photograph, a digital creation such as flare, fog, stars, shadows, color splashes or a layer may modify another layer by adjusting exposure, hue, saturation, color, and/or texture.

I have studied under some of the masters of photography including workshops with Al Weber, Philip Hyde, Maggie Taylor, and Ysabel LeMay. In addition, I had the great honor of being selected to work as an assistant to Ansel Adams at one of his Yosemite Workshops. 

I was a finalist in the Julia M. Cameron Award for Women Photographers - Alternative Processes 2016 and had my work exhibited at Berlin Foto Biennale - 4th Biennial of Fine Art & Documentary Photography. My work is currently being exhibited at Friedman Memorial Airport, St Luke's Medical Center, 7Fuego Restaurant and Bellevue Public Library.”

Satomi Sugimoto

"I have always been attracted to forms and lines since I was a child. I see motifs of life reflected in my work including organic forms, elemental forces, body parts of humans, insects and animals. My art-making is a spiritual process; a search for the essence of objects."

Satomi Sugimoto was born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1982 and currently lives and works in Tokyo. She received her BFA from School of Visual Arts in New York. As a sculptor, she creates intimate-scale forms which are very raw, primitive, and organic with a very sensitive use of painting. She sees her art-making is a spiritual process; a search for the essence of objects and a process of purification where a single element is explored, honed and expressed.
