CQAR Magazine Contest

We invite visual artists, working in all fine art media that can be depicted on the printed page, to submit their artwork in order to be considered for publication in the Summer 2022 Issue of Circle Quarterly Art Review Magazine.

Circle Quarterly is a premium quality printed magazine, available also in digital form. With seven back issues, the magazine has been met with great success from an extended readership of international art lovers and art professionals.

Through this contest, 60 artists will be selected for 1, 2,3 or 4 pages and the Front/Back Covers of Circle Quarterly Art Review | Summer 2022 Magazine.

Art in the Time of Coronavirus & Social Distancing

This year has been eventfully dramatic. With the spread of the novel Covid-19 virus around the globe, we have been experiencing not only a sweeping health crisis but we find ourselves as citizens in what seem as unprecedented economic, political and social circumstances. From the personal to the political the 2020 pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives.

Creative minds have a unique way of processing and we are interested in how artists are capturing and expressing these recent experiences which are sure to become a bold chapter in future global history books.

We invite you to submit artwork that was created during and inspired by these strange times focusing on the theme of the pandemic and social distancing.

Angela Banks

(Painter, South Africa)

Angela Banks is a fine artist living and working in Johannesburg. She received a BA (Fine Arts) in 1999 and MA (Fine Arts) in 2003 from the University of Pretoria. She has since exhibited in various group and solo shows and has been on residencies in both France and China. These residencies afforded her the opportunity to engage with European as well as Eastern art, artists, galleries and exhibits and allowed her to exhibit internationally too.

Arjun Kamath

(Photographer, India

Arjun Kamath is an award-winning, internationally published photographer and filmmaker. He is known for creating photo stories that entail crucial social messages which have been published by the United Nations, Nat Geo, Vogue, BuzzFeed, HuffPost, and other reputed global media houses. His professional expertise is supported by a Master's in Film and Television Production from one of the world's finest film schools, the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. Kamath finds a unique approach in photography, marked by dramatic compositions, vibrant imagery, and heart-stirring stories.

Michael Herbert Dorn

(Painter, Bermuda (UK) / USA / Belgium)

Michael Herbert Dorn holds a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA, 2018) from Lesley University College of Art & Design (USA), graduated with honors from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (USA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in Visual & Performing Arts (emphasis in Film/Video), and has studied traditional painting and drawing at ateliers in France and Italy.  The artist was born in St. George's, Bermuda, and he is a citizen of both the USA and the UK. Michael resides in and works in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Belgium.
